Botanical Gardens
Botanical gardens in Sri Lanka are located in different parts of the island and consist of extensive collections of Sri Lanka native and endemic species as well as plants from across the globe. The largest and most popular is the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens near the hill capital of Kandy, which is spread across over 140 acres and has around 4,000 different species of plants and around 10,000 trees. The Hakgala Botanical Garden close to the town of Nuwara Eliya attracts thousands of visitors especially during the months of March and April. There are also botanical gardens in Sri Lanka’s wet and dry zones giving visitors a glimpse of different types of plant species.A visit to these gardens can be a delightful addition to any Sri Lankan tour package.
