What’s the best time to visit Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is truly a year-round destination which means that you can visit any time of the year. The island’s weather is dominated by two monsoon seasons that bring a lot of rainfall on one side of the island while the other side is perfect for time on the beach. So, the best time to visit the country actually depends on what you are interested in.
The Sri Lankan calendar is full of cultural festivals and holidays. The world-famous Esala Perahera in the hill capital of Kandy falls in July/August while the season to climb the sacred mountain known as Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak is from December to May. Similarly, there are also specific periods to have the best chance of spotting amazing wildlife such as the elephant, leopard, sloth bear, whales or the hundreds of bird species spread across the island.
